Ludwig Wittgenstein, Philosophical Investigations

dr. James Hill

Anotace:

The class will take the form of a reading of this, the key work of Wittgenstein’s later philosophy, and the only one that the author prepared for publication. We will explore the central arguments of the Investigations giving particular attention to the conception of meaning, the problem of rule-following, the language of sensation, and to the question of private language. A vital secondary text will be Saul A. Kripke’s Wittgenstein: On Rules and Private Language.
